How and why you would hire a Professional Makeup Artist for your Wedding day....

For starters, how about peace of mind on YOUR special day?

You have spent so much time and money for this amazing event, you have
worked so hard to make yourself beautiful and now the photographer
will be taking photos of you all day. Why not make sure you look as
amazing as you possibly can?

A professional Makeup Artist is someone who is trained on how your
makeup should be applied for your photos. Your makeup should last all
day, it is not your everyday makeup that you would do on a daily
basis, it is a little more but still reflective of you and let's your
true beauty come out and shine.

First, do your research. When I say do your research I mean you need
to ask a few questions and have them answered to your satisfaction.

Here are the most popular questions I get asked and a few more that
will ease your mind:

1. How long has the Makeup Artist been doing makeup and are they
specifically trained in Bridal makeup?

2. Do they have proper training? Where did they go to school or were
they self taught?

3. Do they keep up on current trends or are they stuck in the 90's?

4. What kind of makeup do they use? Wedding Day makeup is NOT your
everyday makeup that you would buy at the makeup counter at a
department store. That makeup is not an all day makeup and 9 out of 10
times it is a water-based makeup and is meant to last 4-6 hrs tops (do
your research!).

5. Do they have a website? All Makeup Artists should have a site
proudly showing their work. Look at their portfolio, don't take their
word for it. A picture is worth a thousand words...

6. Are they well known in the industry? What kind of reputation do they have?

7. Has their work been featured in any wedding magazines? An
established and successful Makeup Artist will have work in local
Wedding magazines.

8. Do they also offer hair service as well? This adds a huge level of
convenience if they can style your hair in the same sitting or at
least recommend someone they work with regularly.

You should be asking your wedding vendors for at least 3 referrals.
Ask your Wedding Planner, Photographer, Florist, and Cake Vendor. If
your Makeup Artist is known in the industry they will have worked many
times with these vendors and will have established solid relationships
based on their work.

Once you have narrowed down your selection of your Makeup Artist call
and schedule a trial run. This is crucial! A highly trained Makeup
Artist will book up very fast and if you are getting married during
the peak season of April through October, do not wait. This should be
something you book after your Photographer.

Once you book your Makeup Artist (at least 6-8 months in advance) set
up a trial about 3 months before your wedding. Some brides have had
awful experiences with a Makeup Artist at the mall and want to have a
trial right away. This is understandable and something to consider is
doing a trial for your engagement photos. On the day of your trial,
make sure you have gathered photos of the hair and makeup style that
you want to achieve. This ensures that both you and the MakeUp Artist
are on the same page. A smokey eye to you may be something completely
different than what she may think a smokey eye is. If your hair is
also being done at the trial run make sure you bring your veil and any
other accessories you will be wearing on your wedding day.

A Makeup artist will not only have a contract for you to fill out but
will also ask for a deposit to hold your day. This is Normal for a
professional makeup artist.

I hope this has helped you to get started on hiring your Makeup
Artist! You only get one chance on your wedding day to get it right.

Best wishes,

Jenifer

Makeup Finds...

A few new loves I have found and I personally am trying on myself....

                                            REVLON COLOR STAY WHIPPED...
"OMG" this has got to be one of the best things ever.... Not only does it have the 24 hour staying power but it is AMAZING for normal to dry skin.. or normal to oily skin if you want that dewy look. You can start with a sheer coverage and then layer for a flawless full coverage. I have very sensitive skin and I have not had a reaction from it... (So that's another plus) I can't even explain enough how great this product is.

Makeup Forever Aqua Eye Shadow Pencils.
These are FANTASTIC. I actually have these in my kit. I not only use for a shadow under the eyes but I also use as a liner. They are water proof and long lasting. These kinds of products are what I like to find because when the day is over and I have worked all day, I want to look in the mirror and be able to say "WOW my makeup still looks great". Isn't that what we all want???

Would you wear this?

Would you wear this?
That's what I asked many of you last week. The response was..."Heck YES!" Many wanted to know where to get it, so on a hunt I went. The lip stick is from NYX and the name is Thalia. I found it but it wasnt the color that it looked like in the picture. So not only did I buy it, but I got 3 more hoping for it to be the beautiful color that I posted.
The Middle one is the color "Thalia" by NYX $3.99. The left one is LOREAL "Merino Mauve," #184 $8.00( this one was very sheer). The right one Wet n Wild "Think Pink," 901B $1.99( my favorite). The front one is NYX Soft matte lip cream "Tokyo," $5.99. Out of All 4, the Wet n Wild was the closest to the photo. The best part is that it was only $1.99.

Sacramento Makeup Artist Before and Afters

Months ago I wanted a way to show My makeup skills. I wanted to show everyone how to transform The everyday person into a glamourous Beauty. I teamed up with Brendyn Gunn From Gunnii Sac Photography to get the project started. We started by doing a before and after of a couple of models we were shooting and posted it on Facebook. The response was so great that I put out a message on my page to see who would be willing to do a before and after shoot. 60 plus volenteers later, I was a little suprised; but as I have learned, all of us want to feel beautiful and when we see a before photo, we can connect with that person. Seeing the transformation has been so wonderful. I get to see the happy look on their faces and they are truely greatful. I love the results and love that I can make women feel and look beautiful.

The New Makeup Trend....

The new trend this year is "Clean and Natural"
This is a very young model with a subtle makeup look.  For the NOT SO YOUNG, a little more makeup may be needed to cover up our imperfections.  But you want to stay away from the Cake Face look.
Sure, most Famous Hollywood women look "perfect" but they  spend thousands of dollars for botox, skin laser treatments and lotions and ointments.  In reality, most of us "regular" people can't spend that kind of money and we rely on foundation to cover up our imperfections.
As a makeup professional, I will keep it real and guide you on how to achieve a more fresh and natural look with affordable makeup, some of which you can purchase at your local department store, without over doing it!
Me personally, I have dry skin with hyper pigmentation...so I need FULL COVERAGE...I won't lie!  Most women over 35 need full coverage.  So contact me for a consultation and we can get started and give you that youthful fresh and natural look.

A New Favorite of mine..

The last few days I have been trying a new mascara that my niece told me about.
I wanted to use it before I could give an honest opinion.
Well let me tell you “I really love it”.
L’OREAL Voluminous Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara. Price range from $5-$10
I tried both the waterproof and regular one. The regular one I will use for myself and the Waterproof is a great one for my Clients who want a full and natural eyelash and don’t want to use false lashes.
The waterproof is a little bit thicker than the regular one but both are fabulous.
Women are very picky about their mascara and believe me I am one of those girls. I love Mac Opulash and Dior Show but now I am adding L’OREAL Voluminous Extra-Volume Collagen to my Favorites. Try it!! Thats all I can recommend .
