Coconut Oil

Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for your Face, Skin and Hair

Sunday Secrets...

What can I say? I Love Coconut anything!

I was not surprised when I first heard about the wonders of coconut oil last year. Its so delicious and I love everything coconut so I bought a jar of Organic Coconut oil.  At the time I bought it to cook with and then of course I read on Pinterest that it was wonderful for your face, skin and hair. I have been using it about 6 months and I must admit that it has been the best thing I have ever used on my face. I have struggled from acne all my adult life. Not bad but bad enough that I have always worn foundation to cover it. It has cleared most of my acne and I have not had skin like this in years. Believe me!!! I have tried it all. Expensive to drug stores cure all but nothing ever help.

This is what I have learned about USDA Organic  Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
The medium chain fatty acids (MCFA) present in coconut oil, especially lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, have been shown to possess antibacterial, antiviral and anti fungal properties! Not a single FDA approved drug can claim that!
EV Organic Coconut Oil provides deep and real moisture to the skin. It has no added ingredient as other moisturisers do. Other moisturisers contain some type of petroleum base products that suffocates the skin. Coconut oil helps strengthen underlying tissues and helps remove excessive dead cell on the skin's surface . It's also great for shine and as a natural moisturizer for your body, hair and scalp.

What you want to look for when you are buying Coconut oil is the USDA Organic stamp. Look for extra virgin, that has not been hydrogenated, bleached, refined or deodorized.

I apply daily at night after washing my face I use a dime size and gently rub into face. it will seem greasy but will absorb into face quickly.

This may not be for everyone but I have not heard a bad thing about it so far.
Please read about it before you decide to use it.

How to clean your Makeup Brushes.

Makeup Brush Cleaning 101

Sunday Secrets

This is the number one question I get from my clients (how do I clean my makeup brushes?)

You should be cleaning your brushes once a week, if you are not cleaning your makeup brushes just know that they harbor icky bacteria which can cause your skin too breakout.

In this blog I will be giving out some secrets about what I use and how I Clean my brushes.

You should be storing your brushes in either a Makeup pouch or Roller. Your Brushes should be covered and not out in the open. I know we would love to show off our beautiful clean expensive brushes but dust can harbor bacteria. YUCK! Most people do not know this but it's TRUE!

Once a week grab your brushes, and depending on how many brushes you have will determine the size or how many containers you will need.
lets just start with 5 brushes.

you will need:

1 cup or bowl- Coffe cup size
Original Blue Dawn Soap
91% isoprpyl alcohol
Clean towel

Yes I said the Original Blue Dawn Soap.

It efectively removes grease and also dirt. It is so great that it's even the Wildlife Cleaner of choice on birds and mamals after an oil spill. It is Bio Degradable and contains no Phosphates.
I put about 4 pumps or squezes into the coffee cup and only put enough water in to soak the brushes. Do not get it onto the wood or the glue will lossen in the farrel of the brushes over time.
Let it soak for no more than 5 min.
I take them all out at the same time, and then I  take a brush and rub it back and fourth in the palm of my hand, then rinse. Sometimes I need more soap so I just add a fewmore drops in my hand and continue until brush rinses out clear.
I reshape the brush then lay them flat on a clean towel to dry over night.

When they are all dry I spray 91% isopropyl Alcohol all over the brush (not handle).  It will take a few min to dry. then place in your pouch or roller

  • Isopropyl alcohol kills bacteria and viruses. (this is another thing I learned in makeup school)

Alcohol is what is in brush cleaner so save yourself some money and go buy 91% and add it into a spray bottle.
I hope this helps  and saves you lots of money and breakouts.

Beautiful Lips

How to use Lip Liner to makeup Beautiful lips.

Sunday Secrets

"I am known to make some Beautiful lips on my clients".

Lip liner is intended to fill in areas to the outer edges of the lips and/or keep lipstick inside the lip area. Most lipstick now a days will not run, but as we get older we have deep lines around our lips that sometimes the lipstick just wants to creep out ( I understand it's annoying). I suggets for those women who have deep lines, to invest in a clear lip profector that will keep your color in place.
I love Make Up Forever Lip Profector.
but there are others who make something similar.

there are so many colors of lip liner . If you want a more natural looking lip,
try and stick with a color that is closest to your natural lip color. This will give you a more natural look but will perfect your lips. Make sure you fill in the entire lip as this will give your lipstick staying power.
If you decide you would like a color on your lip, this can be a little tricky. But dont worry; this is why I am posting this.
Pick your liner the closest shade to your lipstick as possible. a darker shade is a 90's look and is NOT in style anymore.
Once you have picked your liner and lip color, then your ready for the following steps.

1. start in the middle of your upper lip (Cupids Bow) and start your pencil flat and Roll to one side turning the pencil 1/4 turn. Do the same for the other side.
2. For bottom lip, you will start on one corner and roll your pencil 1/4 turn to the outer side.
This will take practice, so it is a good idea to start with a nutural color until you are comfortable to show off some color.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
