Makeup Tips

How to get fuller lips

Sunday Secrets

Who doesn't want Fuller lips?
We are not all blessed like Angelina Jolie.

As we get older gravity takes toll on our body and if we are not gifted with large lips then gravity also thins our upper lip. There is no cure-all unless you have something injected and I'm not going to lie. I want to do it. I just don't want to pay the price and I'm a little scared. But there is one thing I can do to give the illusion that my lips are fuller.

First line your lips and fill in your whole lip with a color as close to your lip color as possible.
Next you will grab a highlight, preferably one that has shimmer not sparkle. Add a little on your outer upper lip focusing on the cupids bow and under lower lip. Try and remember the darker your lip color the smaller your lips appear.  Adding highlight will bring that area out.
Lastly, add some gloss. Gloss reflects light therefore gives the illusion of fuller lips.
Try it, especially if you are taking pictures.

How to shape your eyebrows

They are sisters NOT twins.

Sunday Secrets

If you can understand that, not only as a client but as a makeup artist then you will have great eyebrows.

This is something I would tell my students when I use to teach at a Makeup Academy. No ones eyebrows are exactly the same on both sides. The only way they are exactly the same is if you stencil them and that is not a natural look.
As a Makeup Artist it is our job to give the illusion that you have perfect sister brows. The eyebrow is the frame to your eyes. As makeup artists, we never just follow your natural eyebrow if they need help. I think this is something some people just don't understand how to enhance an eyebrow.

I like to use eyeshadow for a more natural looking eyebrow, but sometimes a gel is needed.

Star with the inner brow. That point is going to be aligned with the outer part of your nostrils like in the picture above.
The arch should be aligned with  the center of your pupil like in picture above.
The end of your eyebrow should be aligned with the outer part of nostril and outer part of eye like in picture also above. This part is a huge pet peeve of mine. If you drag the tail of your eyebrow down too long, it drags your whole eye down as well. The only time you want to have a longer brow is if you are doing a high fashion look.

Here are some before and afters of brows.

Big Sexy Hair

Sunday Secrets

No more flat head...

Can I get a AMEN?

Do you have fine hair or your hair goes flat after a couple hours? Do you back comb your hair everyday?
If you answer yes to any of these then one of these products just may be for you.

Volumizing powder can add fullness to fine hair and make limb hair more manageable.
The best part is that it can also refresh your hair in between shampoos.

Pretty much every brand of hair products make a volumizing powder and if they don't then they will be.

Schwarzkopf was the first to come out with the "Dust it" and since then they have several in their off brands like "got 2b".
I still love Dust it but, I am a huge fan of Big Sexy Hair "Power Play".
I think they all have a different texture and mill of the powder. It just depends on what you prefer.
I absolutely love to use it when I back comb. I do not only have to back comb forever but it does most of the work for me therefore not damaging the hair as much.
For those that have fine hair it can give you more volume.

Just dust on the root of the section you are going to back comb or tousle. You will instantly look like you have more hair.
I love it and couldn't live without it in my kit!
Here's to BIG SEXY HAIR!!!!!!

How To Make your own liquid liner for pennies

Sunday Secrets...

This is something I learned about 6 years ago. I used this method for years until I discovered Makeup Forever Aqua Black. I used this method because nothing else worked as well as this did..
What I am about to tell you is something that may change your makeup life. Well at least change things up a little.

I always wanted the perfect consistency for a liquid liner. Sometimes I wanted black and sometimes color for fun and without breaking the bank. You can actually make your own and for pennies.
What you will need is eye shadow and contact solution. YES! CONTACT SOLUTION.

I find that the Walmart brand is the best over any other brand to use for making liquid eyeliner.
The other brands do not give the right consistency.

I love Mac eye shadows for liquid liner, especially Carbon for black.
The one advice I can give you for making you liquid liner is use a corner of the eyeshadow because it will change the consistency of the palette forever.
So what I am trying to say is either use a corner of the shadow or use it only for liner, because once you add the contact solution it will not have a shadow consistency.

First I put a very small drop of contact solution on the back of my clean hand.(this will be your pallete for making the liquid liner)
Next I dip my angle brush in it and put into a corner of the eyeshadow. I then add more shadow or solution if needed to get the consistency of a liquid liner. You can do this with any color as well.
It not only looks beautiful but has a long lasting wear. I hope you have fun using this method and most of all it's affordable.
